If one concerns themselves more about the negativity before the outcomes of a contest, their confidence and will to win the contest gets reduced by itself. However, more positive thinking and believing in one’s capacities and capabilities always help a contestant get closer to their desired goal. These bodybuilders must draw a line between their confidence in themselves and arrogance. When they can make a difference between the two and can choose the former, they are already on the path to winning their contest.
Chris Bumstead was a four-time Mr. Olympia in classic Physique up until now. But his title gets changed after he maintains his winning streak for the fifth time in a row. Although the audience has been speculating it to be his arrogance which was making him believe in a reality where he wins for the 5th time, CBum cleared their misconceptions.
CBum’s champion mentality
Mr. Olympia’s results are out and Chris Bumstead made history by winning again for the fifth time. In his latest Instagram post, CBum talked about his idea of how mental positivity can help him win the race. In the caption of his post, he wrote, “I always understood it would be a mental game to stay at the top and I was willing to do almost anything to be mentally strong enough. But I was not willing to sacrifice who I was to win.”
Furthermore, he reflected on the fact that the trophy was not the primary reason for his happiness and pride there was another aspect that made him more pleased. He stated, “I am hell a lot more proud of who I was to win it. Who I became in the process of winning it. Champion mentality is the endless pursuit of being the best man I can be, regardless of if this trophy comes home with.”
The Mr. Olympia in Classic Physique often has the capacity to win the Open’s division as well. When CBum was asked to convey his feelings about his career shift to the bigger race, here’s how he responded.
CBum’s response to his future choices
In one of his interviews with Voice of Bodybuilding, right before Mr. Olympia, CBum was asked whether he was planning to participate in the open race as well or not. Bumstead had instantly denied any such intentions. Instead, he pointed out, “It’s such a tough question.” Then the 5X Mr. Olympia in Classic physique went on to explain how lively and young he felt, and thus does not plan to think too much about his future just yet.
The sport of bodybuilding has always been competitive. Under these circumstances, it always becomes hard for the participants to stay motivated and determined about winning. CBum’s mantra of having a champion mentality has surely shown its results this season as well. Do you think Champion’s mentality helps? Let us know about your insights.
